GENERAL

brassbell aftcabinProfessionally built of carved planked yellow cedar, the full displacement mono-hull power vessel has a shallow keel spanning the full length of the hull. The vessel comes with an open cockpit aft, a pilot house mid-ships, a raised pilot house with open fly-bridge aft, a flat fore deck and full accommodation below.

ENGINE

An inboard gasoline Crusader CH185 6 cylinder inline, inboard, 185 HP engine is installed below the pilot house. Built in 1931 the vessel follows traditional and well established methods of wood boat construction.

TRANSOM

There is a narrow swim grid on bronze brackets bolted to the transom. The aft cockpit has bench seating and a lazarette containing the cable steering, rudder post, and a diesel tank for the ESPAR heating system. Below the transom is an 85 gallon gas grounded tank that can be filled from the portside.

SALON, STARBOARD SIDE

From the aft cockpit a wooden door and two steps lead down to the aft salon. To starboard are two built in Captain’s seating and shared table, brass heritage light fixtures, and a switch that operates the forced air ESPAR heating system. The starboard side is fitted with 3 circular brass port holes and two rectangular wooden glass windows.

GALLEY

Starboard side and fore of the Salon is a self-contained Galley, with a DC Fridge, Cupboard space with self-contained water heater and water pump, sink, hot and cold taps, and additional storage for plates, cups, pans and Crab cooker. The water heater is designed to operate on DC battery power or alternatively it provides the option to directly connect to the engine hot water hoses. The galley is lit by several strategically placed lights and 2 circular brass port holes. A fire extinguisher is in easy reach.

SALON PORT SIDE

To the portside is a settee that can be used as an additional berth, and more brass heritage light fixtures. The teak floor planks spans the entire salon, and purpose built floor recesses have been designed to quickly assembling a wooden table, which is ingeniously stowed with removable aluminum legs as part of the wall in the pilot house. Once assembled, the table is used by up to 6 persons, 3 on the settee seat and two occupying the Captains’ chairs. The portside side is fitted with 3 circular brass port holes and two rectangular wooden glass windows.

FRESH WATER

Two 75 gallon fresh water tanks are installed beneath the port side and starboard side seating, accessible via trap doors in the seating. 

DIESEL STOVE & HEATER

Portside and fore of the salon is a heritage diesel stove and heater that can be used for cooking and as a supplement to the ESPAR heating system. The diesel stove and heater block is lit by 2 circular brass port holes and a ship’s bell is fitted close at hand. Two fire extinguishers are in easy reach.

HELM STATION

Moving forward through the galley located on the portside and past diesel stove & heater located on the starboard side, you approach two steps that lead to the pilot house. Going up the steps you pass a microwave on the portside and additional storage space on the starboard side.

Going up these two wooden steps reveals the enclosed pilot house with a raised bench seat aft, and a helm station to the fore, and sliding wood doors on both port and starboard with brass hand rails. Lighting is by way of 2 heritage light fixtures and glass windows that fully encircle the pilot house.

The helm station comes with an odor detector, GPS system, barometer, battery voltmeter, speedometer and rev counter displaying engine hours, engine temperature gauge, and a wooden wheel, and compass. The ship horn can be operated from the Helm Station or the Fly Bridge.

Additional storage is available on both the port and starboard sides.

ENGINE HOUSE

The Crusader 360 gas engine and fresh water cooling system is located below this wheel house and is directly accessible by raining the wooden panels.  The engine house has a Sea-Fire Marine Fire Suppression system, an odor detector, a bilge pump, deep cycle battery (2015) compartments, and sanitation treatment holding tank.

ENCLOSED HEAD

Continuing forward a doorway leads to two wooden steps that go down passed a radio and CD player and additional cupboard storage, to the head and shower room. The head contains a porcelain stool with an electric macerator that leads directly to the sanitation tank, a porcelain hand basin with chrome faucets, and a chrome shower head.

The engine cooling manifold can be accessed by removing a panel in the head.

STATE ROOM

Further forward past the head through a wooden door is a double berth with an open chain locker at the bow. 3 circular brass port holes supplement the heritage brass light fixture and afford air circulation.

FLY BRIDGE

Access to the open fly bridge is gained from port, starboard side decks using wooden doors with brass handles. Alternatively access is afforded from the Helm Station through a loft opening. The Fly bridge has a bench seat aft and a helm station forward. The helm station comes with a GPS system, barometer, battery voltmeter, speedometer and rev counter displaying engine hours, engine temperature gauge, and a wooden wheel. The ship horn can be operated from the Fly Bridge or the Helm Station.

Aft of the Fly bridge is a wooden mast with block and tackle for winching a zodiac or other tender on to the vessel. The mast houses a radar reflector and anchor light at the very top. 3 foot cedar panels fully encircle the Fly Bridge.

Grab rails located above the internal pilot house aid crew movement along the side decks. Additional grab rails are located on the crowned foredeck.
